About

Hi, I’m Brittney from Essential Messes.

I am a mom to the most adorable little girl.

Before my daughter was born I was in a limbo state of mind. I was only working part time. I didn’t know where I wanted my life to go. When I found out I was expecting my first child and my life took a complete 360. I set up a full-time job before she was born so I could support her.  I just wanted to do everything in my power to make sure her life was better than the one I had.

About a year into my full-time job, I realized that I was missing out on my daughter’s milestones. I decided that I wanted to be around to witness all the changes she was going through in such a short amount of time. So I quit my job to be a stay at home mom.

During the day, when my daughter is at daycare or visiting with relatives, I wanted to create something that was mine. That I could share with others. I decided I wanted to start a blog. At the same time I  knew that I needed a way to supplement my income and help support my family.

Why blogging?

For starters, I’d been blogging for many years on blogger. I decided that it was time to take the next step and purchase a domain to call my own. I wanted to have more freedom with my blog. So that I could share my voice with other like minded people.  My love for organization is my passion for Essential Messes. Especially now so with a one year old running around the house like a little tornado. The main goal of my blog is to make life a little easier, so I have more time to spend with my little girl.

That is why Essential Messes was born. Essential Messes was created to support first time mothers like myself  and experienced mothers who need a little help organizing the clutter of life. This includes organization hacks that I have personally tried at home, cleaning hacks, and do it yourself projects that I attempt as well. I have a great post here about products I currently use in my home to help organize it better.

Follow me as I organize, clean, and DIY my way to a clutter free home so that I can be there for all the little changes of my child’s life.
